If you like how your hair looks and feels after an in-salon hair treatment, invest in Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray today! This costly yet incredible frizz-fighting spray adds great softness, shine and smoothness. It is comparable to that of a moisturizing hair treatment done by salon professionals.

HOW TO USE:

Spray on damp hair from mid-shaft to ends
Comb through to distribute
Followed by blow-drying hair in downward motions using a hairdryer
Use sparingly, as this is a highly concentrated formula
Optional: Use a hair straightener or curling iron only after the hair is 100% dried

PROS:

Helps seal split ends
Speeds up dry time
Heat protection
UV protection
Improves combability

CONS:

It is heat-activated (i.e. have to blow dry hair after use for best results)
To be used on damp hair only (not dry hair) for a natural finish

Oribe Review #2: Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream

Oribe Review #2: Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream

To all the women who hate to blow-dry their hair before heading out for work or leisure – us included – Supershine Moisturizing Cream is godsent! We have put this lightweight moisturizer through multiple tests by applying it only on one side of the hair. Thereafter leaving both sides to airdry.

The results? The side with Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream is significantly smoother, softer-to-touch and less frizzy throughout the whole day. Bonus: It does NOT feel heavy or sticky at all.

Don’t take our word for it. Try it out yourself today.

HOW TO USE:

Work a small amount into damp or wet hair from mid-shaft to ends
Comb through to distribute
Blow-dry or airdry naturally

PROS:

Non-sticky even if airdry
Lightweight
Sleekens split ends
Tames frizz effortlessly
Heat protection

CONS:

Not intensive nor “heavy” enough for extremely damaged or “fried” hair

Tips: Go for the regular version instead of the light edition.

Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream is available here at SGD$75 + 7% G.S.T., for 150ml.

* Sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegetarian, color safe, keratin treatment safe.

Oribe Review #3: Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color

Oribe Review #3: Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color

If you’re keen to try Oribe shampoo for the first time, we will strongly recommend Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color – for very good reasons – even if you do NOT have coloured hair.

1. This gentle cleanser is suitable for most (if not all) hair types.

2. It creates a soft, shiny and smooth finish without weighing the hair down.

3. Effectively prolongs the results of most hair services such as Perm, Thermal Straightening, Keratin Treatments, Brazilian Blowout and other Hair Treatments. (NOT just hair colors!)

4. Out of all the Oribe Shampoos sold in Chez Vous Hair Salon, this shampoo has the highest repeat purchase rate.

5. Improves combability even when used as a stand-alone.

HOW TO USE:

Lather, indulge, rinse.

PROS:

Rarely disliked by customers
Multi-purposed – Repair, Hydrate, & Strengthen
A little goes a long way (the size of a 50 cents coin)
High-tech multi-layered UV protection system
Anti-ageing benefits for the hair

CONS:

As this is a gentle cleanser, one might need to use a less-“rich” or scalp shampoo, once every week. This will help remove build-up on the scalp. A good recommendation will be Oribe Signature Shampoo.
Not “heavy” enough for extremely damaged hair.
It might not lather* well on certain scalp and hair types like many sulfate-free cleansers.

* Do note that even if it doesn’t foam up, it’s still working to clean your hair. There’s no need to shampoo twice. When it doesn’t lather, apply more water instead of shampoo. The water will help “activate” the shampoo and spread it through your hair. Remember, you do not need "bubbles" to clean your hair and scalp, contrary to popular belief.

Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color is available here at SGD$65 + 7% G.S.T., for 250ml.

* Sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegetarian, color safe, keratin treatment safe.

Oribe Review #4: Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque

Oribe Review #4: Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque

Our hair needs a good balance between protein and moisture. On the one hand, with too much protein, hair becomes brittle. On the other hand, too much moisture will make our hair limp and “gummy”. Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque is a well-balanced formulation that can be used in place of your daily conditioner for normal to thick hair texture. With long term use, hair becomes less prone to breakage, intensively repaired, and irresistibly hydrated. The best part? The masque is neither heavy, nor does it weigh hair down.

If smoothness is something high on your list, go for Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Conditioner instead. It's smoother than the masque.

HOW TO USE:

Massage onto hair in downward motion repeatedly till hair is perfectly smooth.
Indulge for at least 5 minutes.
Rinse.

PROS:

It can be used daily for prolonged and continuous repair.
Considerably lightweight given its reparative intensity.
Double as a scalp masque on days when the scalp is abnormally dry, itchy and sensitive.
Does NOT cause over-proteinization, unlike other strengthening products.

CONS:

Not suitable for women who want to enhance and sculpt their natural curls or ringlets. For customers looking for a curly-hair friendly conditioner, you will prefer Oribe Intense Conditioner for Moisture & Control.
For this masque to work, customers will have to leave it on for at least 5 minutes.

Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque is available here at SGD$95 + 7% G.S.T., for 200ml.

* Sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegetarian, color safe, keratin treatment safe.

Oribe Review #5: Oribe Curl Gloss Hydration & Hold

Oribe Review #5: Oribe Curl Gloss Hydration & Hold

In drier climates like Japan and South Korea, our curls, after a perm service, tend to hold and sculpt better. However, in a humid climate like Singapore’s, our curls (permed or natural) tend to be frizzy and unruly.

In such a climate, ordinary curl cream can sometimes lack the styling power to hold our curls in place. In contrast, sculpting lotion tends to make the hair stiff.

Oribe Curl Gloss for Hydration & Hold has the right balance of having sufficient hold to shape our curls, minus the crunch. Moreover, it adds incredible shine and moisture to our hair too.

HOW TO USE:

Apply to damp hair.
Twist while blow-drying hair to define the curls.
Alternatively, use a diffuser.
A little goes a long way.

PROS:

Lightweight formula
Provides soft, natural hold
Fights humidity to control frizz
Hydrates and conditions
Adds brilliance & shine

CONS:

It has a slight “gel” touch and sheen to it when applied excessively.

Oribe Curl Gloss for Moisture & Control is available here at SGD$55 + 7% G.S.T., for 175ml.

* Sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegetarian, color safe, keratin treatment safe.

Oribe Review #6: Oribe Invisible Defense Universal Protection Spray

Oribe Review #6: Oribe Invisible Defense Universal Protection Spray

We’re strong advocates of Heat Protectants – even for customers who only use hairdryers without any other heat-styling tools. Preventing thermal damage is better than cure!

Many brands offer Heat Protectants, but Oribe’s Invisible Defense Universal Protection Spray is a shining example of how to do it right.

It is in an ultra-lightweight mist form that allows users to spray sufficiently from roots to ends for optimal protection.

In our opinion, heat protectant should NOT be in serum, cream or oil format. Because it is impossible to apply such heat protectants sufficiently from mid to hair ends without weighing the hair down. Moreover, it does not make sense to protect only the hair ends and not the rest of our mane.

HOW TO USE:

Shake and mist on damp hair before using a hairdryer or hot tools.

PROS:

Provides 230°C heat protection
Protects against dryness and color fading caused by UV rays
It is almost weightless
Allows users to mist sufficiently all over hair for maximum protection

CONS:

This lightweight heat protectant might not be “rich” enough to combat frizz effectively. Layer Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream after it for maximum benefits.

Oribe Invisible Defense Universal Protection Spray is available here at SGD$62 + 7% G.S.T., for 175ml.

* Sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegetarian, color safe, keratin treatment safe.

Oribe Review #7: Oribe Serene Scalp Thickening Treatment Spray

Oribe Review #7: Oribe Serene Scalp Thickening Treatment Spray

Like many users, initially, we thought Oribe Serene Scalp Thickening Treatment Spray is just a styling product. That is, it only adds volume cosmetically and has no actual scalp benefits in the long run.

We were terribly wrong. Upon using it for 3 months, many customers start to observe new hair growth and lesser hair fall. This is thanks to its clinically proven active ingredients found inside this serum. High density at your fingertips, indeed.

HOW TO USE:

On clean, damp hair, mist directly onto the scalp.
Style and blow dry as usual.
Use after every wash.
Instantly plumps hair at the roots while creating denser-looking strands over the course of three months.

PROS:

Promotes fuller & thicker hair
Energizes, hydrates, refreshes and balances scalp
Strengthens to help reduce hair fall caused by breakage
Provides antioxidant protection against free radical damage and the elements
Surprisingly soothing to the scalp
Fragrance-free

CONS:

Have to blow dry hair after misting; otherwise, scalp might feel slightly sticky after use.
Like other scalp tonics, it will require 90 days of use to see visible results.

Oribe Serene Scalp Thickening Treatment Spray is available here at SGD$110 + 7% G.S.T., for 125ml.

* Sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegetarian, color safe, keratin treatment safe.

Oribe Review #8: Oribe Shampoo for Moisture & Control and Intense Conditioner for Moisture & Control

Oribe Review #8: Oribe Shampoo for Moisture & Control and Intense Conditioner for Moisture & Control

This is a controversial range. Either customers love it due to its intense softness, anti-frizz and moisturizing properties, or hate it because it doesn’t have any effect on their hair. Thankfully, we have tested them for 6 months & counting, and have identified the type of hair texture and condition that goes well with Oribe’s Moisture & Control range.

On one hand, if your hair is extremely porous and fine, avoid using Oribe’s Moisture & Control shampoo and conditioner. Instead, opt for a protein-rich formula such as Oribe’s Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo and Gold Lust Transformative Masque (NOT the conditioner). The Gold Lust Transformative Masque has higher protein content. Thus, it is able to “fill-up holes” in our hair, repairing them while making them smoother and stronger. You’ll be surprised to know that the Gold Lust Transformative Masque is lighter than the conditioner – hence it’s suitable for fine hair types too (even if it's for daily use).

On the other hand, if you have medium to thick hair, that is not excessively damaged, you will adore Oribe’s Moisture & Control range. Warning: Many of our customers with such hair types are addicted to it. The addiction is real!

HOW TO USE:

Lather shampoo, indulge, rinse.
Apply conditioner on hair from mid to hair ends. Massage in downward motion till it is perfectly smooth.
Leave-on for 5 minutes before rinsing.

PROS:

Helps combat frizz effectively when combined with Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream
Hair becomes ultra-soft, ultra-silky and smoother than ever

CONS:

Not suitable for extremely porous and fine hair
Might be slightly heavy for fine hair type

Oribe Shampoo for Moisture & Control is available here at SGD$63 + 7% G.S.T., for 250ml. Oribe Intense Conditioner for Moisture & Control is available here at SGD$71 + 7% g.s.t., for 200ml.

* Sulfate free, paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegetarian, color safe, keratin treatment safe.

Oribe Review: Brand Weaknesses

Like all brands, Oribe has its strengths and weaknesses. In our opinion, their products are generally lightweight. Hence, it might not be suitable for hair that is extremely damaged or “fried”.

Also, customers in Singapore that are not accustomed to sulfate-free shampoos might need some time getting used to them. This is because sulfate-free shampoo doesn’t create the same amount of lather as sulfate-based formulas.

Lastly, we felt that some of Oribe Shampoos (such as their Signature Shampoo, Shampoo for Brilliance & Shine, and Shampoo for Magnificent Volume) do not provide sufficient slip for very damaged hair. As, they seem to use lesser silicones in their formulas. This might be a problem for customers who dislike using conditioners and those who prefer silicone-rich formulas.

If you prefer a shampoo that provides greater slip, their Gold Lust Shampoo, Shampoo for Moisture & Control, or Shampoo for Beautiful Color are better choices. Remember, always pair Oribe’s shampoos with their conditioner for best results.

Oribe Review: Is Oribe Worth Buying Given the High Price Tag?

Oribe Review: Is Oribe Worth Buying Given the High Price Tag?

1. Premium Ingredients

Look at the ingredients list, and you will be astonished to find every of their product is packed with the most expensive and state-of-art ingredients. No expense spared. Many of which can also be found in luxury skincare products. In this aspect, it is definitely a big yes!

2. Higher Percentage of Naturally-derived Ingredients

Customers who favour a more natural formulation will be pleased to know that many of the ingredients found in their products are naturally derived. The best part? They are sulfate-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and does not contain any animal-derived ingredients.

3. Generally Lightweight (even for their styling products)

This is a major plus point for customers living in a humid climate like Singapore. Also, after using their products for more than 6 months, we realize that the ingredients they used do not cause nasty build-up.

4. Oribe Shampoo Does Not Over-dries the Scalp

Contrary to popular beliefs, moisturizing our scalp is key to healthy hair. Thanks to their gentle formulation, the scalp’s natural oil will never be over-stripped. If we study their shampoo closely, all of them contain scalp-caring ingredients too.

5. Spa-like Experience

Using Oribe products is like stepping into a high-end spa. Luxurious, relaxing, and pampering. While most companies select a scent from a stock fragrance library, they were the first to collaborate with a legendary 19th-century perfume house to blend its signature fragrance, Côte d’Azur. Ooo #Classy

Oribe products are now available at Chez Vous Hair Salon, Chez Vous: HideAway and Chez Vous’ e-Commerce platform. Chez Vous is the authorised salon for Oribe haircare products in Singapore. All Oribe products sold by Chez Vous are 100% authentic.
