Every year, Pantone Inc - the authority on colour, the provider of colour systems and leading technology for accurate communication of colour will declare a particular colour "Colour of the Year" after a secret meeting with representatives of various nations' colour standards group. The result of the meeting is published in Pantone View, which fashion designers, florists, and many other consumer-oriented companies purchase to help guide their designs and planning for future products.

In 2015, a hearty yet stylish tone was chosen - Marsala.

Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.

Flattering against many skin tones, sultry and subtle Marsala is a great "go-to" colour for hair - dramatic and at the same time conveys  sophistication, glamour and luxury. It is a great alternative to the usual reds and browns; and it looks great on all hairstyles, be it short or long. Looking for a change, try Marsala this winter!

What type of skin tone suits reddish hues?

Marsala hair colour has a "brightening" or "skin whitening" effect on most fair skin Asian or yellowish skin tone women. For those women with sensitive or acne-prone skin, you might have to think twice before sporting marsala hair colour. As, reddish hair hues tend to "amplify" and bring attention to the redness on your skin.

How to prevent the hair colour from "bleeding"?

It's a known fact that fashion shades such as red hues tend to fade faster when compared to basic colours such as dark brown. Fashion shades tend to have bigger colour pigment size; hence the number of pigments deposited into the hair will be lesser.

To prolong your marsala hair colour, try conditioning your hair first before shampoo, followed by a colour mask. This will reduce "colour bleeding" considerably.
