Chez Vous 20th Anniversary 20 Lookbook Challenge #13: Christabelle
A FRESH START
Pixie cut - Popularized first in the late 1950s by Audrey Hepburn in her debut film Roman Holiday, and later in the 1960s by British supermodel Twiggy and actress Mia Farrow, then even later by Laugh-In star Goldie Hawn. 50 over years have passed and it's still one of the hottest hairstyles to sport; whether one prefers a neat pixie cut, a tousled style or a choppy look - Pixie is still the A-list hairstyle ju dour. In recent years, many celebrities who needs a fresh start or a career revival; be it launching a new movie, album or chart-topping single; tend to go for a pixie cut to relaunch career. Think Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.
That's because the experience, memories and associations that go with a pixie cut are usually empowerment, against the current and a "brand new me".
Do you need to start afresh today?
DESIGNER: SALON DIRECTOR, HENSLEY CHIN
MODEL: CHRISTABELLE
TECHNIQUE: PIXIE CUT
CONSULTATION
Christabelle is a girlish, bubbly and ambitious lady. Just starting out her career, Christabelle wanted to sport a professional look. Thus, Hensley created an asymmetric pixie cut for her which exudes both confidence and empowerment. Hensley then carefully distributed the weight of her hair to conceal her ears while ensuring that the hair is not excessively heavy at the bottom. The end result, a chic professional woman, ready to rock the world!
BEFORE & AFTER
INFORMATION
BEHIND THE SCENES
EPILOGUE
Hairdressing is a process of design, sculpting, and engineering; that fuses both function and art through traditional craftsmanship and experience. In our time, globalization has led to mass production of many things, yet such a craft must still be created by hand, one at a time. Which is why hairdressing is a luxury, art and a classic, all in one. It is not a commodity, nor a collectible. They are passing dreams of desires.
I am nothing more than a craftsman, a doctor, and a friend. Many thanks to those who have trusted and walked with me for the past 30 years.
Love,
Hensley Chin
